This was the last pair of photos I took. When I was photographing the group of trees, there was a USPS driver who was probably on a break a bit behind me. He actually pointed out the yellow mushroom in the second image, which I'm glad for because it meant that I was able to think about the fungi as an important part of the photos. I did actually use the oil paint filter in the second image, although it's much more subtle than in the others.
I took these pictures on a path on the way to the river. I thought I could get some good pictures, so I stopped and took some. For the first one, I put my camera up close to a large tree and pointed it upwards. I like that one because of the way the trunk gets brighter as it passes more of the leaves. For the second image, I was trying to figure out where to take a good picture, as I had already gotten four, and it occurred to me that I could take this. I got low to the ground, which makes the trees seem especially tall, and I made this thinking about one of the photos we saw in class that had lots of trees making parallel vertical lines.
I took these photos when on a walk with a couple family members, including one of my grandparents who was visiting over the weekend. I especially like the picture on the left. As we were crossing one bridge, I almost missed the opportunity because I was looking at some of the trees to try to get a good picture of them. But my sister pointed out the swan, and I took a picture of it. I especially like the ripples around the bird and the way the trees frame it. The reflection of the sky in the river towards the back is also really nice.
I really like both of these photos. For the one one the left, I really like the contrast between the very sharp, in-focus grass in the foreground and the very out-of-focus trees in the background. On the right, I really like how I was able to capture the group of flowers in the foreground with the trees behind them. I almost messed up and accidentally included a power line in it, but fortunately I noticed and was able to turn my camera away from it. I also like the way I was able to apply the oil paint filter in the image to have a cool effect without taking away from the image.
I took these photos of a hill behind Forsythe Middle School. When I first saw the hill, it reminded me of the Windows XP default wallpaper "Bliss". I decided to take the pictures when I went to the school for a robotics meeting. Since the sky was gray and cloudy, I think it makes a good contrast between the pleasantness of the original photos and the somewhat more dreary nature of these photos.
